Autauga County Recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The Autauga County Commission joins Family Sunshine Center in recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month—a time to support survivors, remember those whose lives have been lost, and strengthen our commitment to safer communities.
This year’s message, “With Survivors, Always: Safety is only the beginning,” emphasizes the importance of compassion and continued support as survivors heal and rebuild their lives.
Residents are encouraged to wear purple on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in recognition of Purple Thursday and to show support for survivors and their families.
Family Sunshine Center provides free, confidential services, including crisis intervention, safe shelter, counseling, and advocacy. For help, call the local crisis line at 334-263-0218 or visit familysunshine.org.
Together, we can help build a community where survivors feel supported and everyone has the opportunity to live safely.
